Joe Appears in the July 2025 Issue of Alabama Heritage

Author Joe Cuhaj has penned a fascinating article that will appear in the July 2025 issue of Alabama Heritage magazine, a journal of Alabama history. Joe's article focuses on the bread riots of 1863. Wartime requires sacrifice and instills hardship on all involved, but many people living within the Confederacy during the Civil War were startled by the relative scarcity of basic provisions. Fueled by the fury of women across the southeast, the Bread Riots marked a moment of open rebellion in which women from Richmond, Virginia, to Mobile, Alabama, raised their voices and demanded that things change.

Joe's Debut Cozy Mystery, "Dead Air," Under Review

This past spring, Joe submitted his debut cozy mystery, Dead Air, to several agents and it is now under consideration for representation. Dead Air takes place in a Gulf Coast radio station in 1943, the height of World War II. Two prominent actors at the station are found murdered, and our two amateur sleuths - script girl Judy Campbell and her boyfriend, Foley Artist Art Foley (he will tell you his name is just a coincidence) - find themselves embroiled in the mystery searching clues for the killer before there is another death. Further books in the series will continue the adventures of our sleuths who have a nasty habit of finding dead bodies. Fingers crossed for good news on the book and series soon.
