Notable Women of Alabama Gets Early Release Date
It's always a surprise when you new book arrives early, and that's what has happened with Joe's latest book, Notable Women of Alabama. Joe has posted a video of his unboxing the first copies to ship. All of this means that copies will be available at your favorite online and local bookstores over a month before the original release date. Joe will have his first signing of the book on September 27th when the Fairhope Museum of History hosts the author for a conversation about the hidden history of the Alabama Gulf Coast and the new book. Joe Cuhaj's Short Story to Appear in an Anthology Collection
Some of you may have heard Joe's humorous short stories about growing up on his podcast, Joe Cuhaj's Shorts. The stories are a memoir of sorts of Joe's adventures as a kid, all loosely based on faulty memories. One of the stories, and the first one Joe ever performed on his old radio show in the late 80s/early 90s, "Johnson Smith, We Love You," will appear in the 23rd biennial edition of the Emerald Coast Review. The review is a collection of works by writers, authors, poets, and artists from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and Florida. The book will be published in October. Details to follow.
Joe Appears in the July 2025 Issue of Alabama Heritage
Author Joe Cuhaj has penned a fascinating article that will appear in the July 2025 issue of Alabama Heritage magazine, a journal of Alabama history. Joe's article focuses on the bread riots of 1863. Wartime requires sacrifice and instills hardship on all involved, but many people living within the Confederacy during the Civil War were startled by the relative scarcity of basic provisions. Fueled by the fury of women across the southeast, the Bread Riots marked a moment of open rebellion in which women from Richmond, Virginia, to Mobile, Alabama, raised their voices and demanded that things change.
