Joe's Short Story, "Johnson Smith, We Love You," Makes it to Print
Over 40 years ago, Joe his first short story. It was a humorous tale of growing up as he puts it, "all loosely based on faulty memories." For the next several years, he wrote more of these stories, using them for his overnight radio show in the 1980s. Joe recently dug the story, and the others, out of the file folder and submitted it to the Emerald Coast Review, an anthology of prose, poetry, and art by Gulf Coast writers and artists. Out of almost 200 entries, the story about the incredible X-Ray Glasses, Johnson Smith, We Love You, was selected. The story, along with 75 works from other incredible writers, appears in the Emerald Coast Review XXIII edition, available through Amazon.
Notable Women of Alabama Gets Early Release Date
It's always a surprise when you new book arrives early, and that's what has happened with Joe's latest book, Notable Women of Alabama. Joe has posted a video of his unboxing the first copies to ship. All of this means that copies will be available at your favorite online and local bookstores over a month before the original release date. Joe will have his first signing of the book on September 27th when the Fairhope Museum of History hosts the author for a conversation about the hidden history of the Alabama Gulf Coast and the new book. Joe Cuhaj's Short Story to Appear in an Anthology Collection
Some of you may have heard Joe's humorous short stories about growing up on his podcast, Joe Cuhaj's Shorts. The stories are a memoir of sorts of Joe's adventures as a kid, all loosely based on faulty memories. One of the stories, and the first one Joe ever performed on his old radio show in the late 80s/early 90s, "Johnson Smith, We Love You," will appear in the 23rd biennial edition of the Emerald Coast Review. The review is a collection of works by writers, authors, poets, and artists from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and Florida. The book will be published in October. Details to follow.
